AO instructor camp! What a fun camp hahaha

I was away during the weekends for an outdoor instructor camp for Asia Outdoor. an outdoor adventure company. It was held at Kota Rainforest Resort,Malaysia...Its a really fun camp...got to know new people and made some friends there.haha... we went on an expedition to a waterfall at kota tinggi...the journey was very interesting...went river crossing..did vertical climb all that...the feeling was similar to that when i was climbing gunung stong last year...hahaha..but with different people..and different location of course....hahaa...

We also did low elements & indiana jones on the second day. ZOMG...hahaha..indiana jones was damn fun...the shaking platforms plus the sabo-ing done by some of the others were rather interesting...haha..quite an experience for me.... :)

Am I ??

hmm..its been quite sometime since my last post i must say...but anyway i'll get straight to the point

i just got a job as a tutor...an english tutor.. was introduced to this job by an aunt of mine...im teaching a taiwanese kid...been teaching him for a week now..the experience well..i must say...quite interesting...

but first...a few days back...i told a friend of mine about this tuition job of mine...he then asked me...

friend: Derrick, are you a good tutor?

me: Well, i admit im not a good tutor. But im a good motivator or encourager.

friend: Haha. okie.

me: No matter how good a teacher is, in terms of ability to teach, if he/she doesnt know how to encourage or motivate the student. It is useless. I think most of it lies within the student. If the student doesnt want to study or be discipline enough to learn to be independent. Then, that student would not be able to do well.

friend: hmm..ehh.quite true lehz..agree agree...

So i was thinking how good of a motivator and encourager am i? when i say im a good motivator..am i good enough to motivate the student...because motivating friends and motivating a student...there is a difference... at least that is how i see it.... friends...because you know them well enough....to know how to encourage them and motivate...i have no problems motivating my friends =) ....but a student...

i think i will eventually know the way to go about it...after tutoring this student for a while... so in the meantime...i have been wondering how to start motivating this student of mine....cuz he needs some serious motivation....really...

haha...this chinese new year...seems kinda odd for me...and yup...like wad ying jia said on her blog...some of us are not feeling the CNY mood...

maybe its because of exams..or just that CNY every year is the same...then as we get older...we are somewhat sian of it?but..haha...who would find receiving ang baos sian??hahhaa.. so as sian as we may feel .... juz look tot the fact that we will be receiving ang baos (: ...haha... den it won't be so sian alrdy...haha..

NPOB AGM- A New Beginning

What an event!!haha....took many pictures..all the members turned up in their smart casual attire..there were many ppl who cried in the end..it was expected...and i will definitely miss the Year 3s...they have really been a great help to us and we have many things to learn from them still... I mean...thinking of the fact that they're about to graduate...makes me feel empty...empty with the fact that they won't be able to attend trainings as regularly as they used to...trainings are always fun because of everyone... everyone has a role to play....and as the members of my batch step up to be year 2s in a few month's time...we look forward to welcoming the new year 1s :)..hahaha

The AGM also marked the birth of the 15th Committee....and i really look forward to them leading OB to greater heights.... the members inside the 15th Committee are really good from what i can see...and i have every faith that they will do well :) 15th Committee must Jia You!!! Hahaha...

I have seen other blogs which were thanking people and all that...but for me...

I think there is just too many people to thank :) ...im afraid if i were to write the names of everyone here..i might forget some...which won't be very good... Everyone did a really good job throughout the academic year.... :)

It's Been Great.

Though it wasnt the news that i wanted.. but maybe...it was more or less expected. Well. i would say the process has been great, It is not without its fair share of laughter, joy and sadness though. Maybe the problem was due to the time and the mood.

But at the end of it all. I kept asking myself why did this happened. The only reason i could come up with, is that i really suck at it and that maybe one of the factors is me. I really hate this feeling. It just makes me feel that i am so lousy. maybe i am. and for that i have no reason to blame anyone but me. Why do i suck??

Its been a mixed week. good times bad times. but i know the ending to this week would be a mixed one as well.

At the end of it all, maybe i should reflect and ask myself if i did enough or maybe i should have done more.
And all i can say, is that i will be positive and stand up again. I cant let a failure affect my entire life rite? I mean. As the saying goes. Failure is the mother of all successes. I will succeed sooner rather than later.
